While we continue to raise the funds needed to begin theater construction, high-quality, grant-funded programs are being provided free of charge to the community.

Last Saturday Cinema 2009-2013

As early as 2009 The Denis Theatre was developing creative programming. On the last Saturday of the summer months we offered free outdoor movies to the community. These were popular events with after movie discussions held at various sites such as Uptown Coffee. Our first setting was Parse Way and then Clearview Commons in 2013.

Reel to Real 2011-2020

This program featured movie screenings and discussions at Washington Square. We showed 6 movies a year with an average attendance of 35 individuals. We partnered with The Hollywood for several events, averaging about 53 people. In 2018 we expanded the program to include sessions at The Upper St. Clair Library.

Mt. Lebanon Public Library Watch Parties 2021 -

The Denis Theatre has been partnering with the Mt. Lebanon Public Library for film viewing and discussions.

Meet Me at the Movies

We pioneered this innovative program as an outreach to people with dementia and memory loss. We offered the program at Asbury Heights, The Baptist Home, Concordia, Providence Point, Harbor Residence (Juniper) and Artis Senior Living. We showed movie and TV clips to inspire seniors who interacted with The Denis volunteers.

Movie Chats Online 2020-2022

During Covid we began to offer MOVIE CHATS via zoom. Participants would watch the movie and then gather for a zoom discussion. Between summer 2020 and spring 2022, 40 movies were featured with 502 attendees.
