The Denis Theatre, a grand one-screen moviehouse with a capacity of more than 1200, opened June 1, 1938 on Mt. Lebanon’s main street.

The marquee in the original architectural plans included “harris”.

Owner Denis Harris inherited Harris Amusement Company after the death of his brother, John P. Harris, the state senator and businessman who opened the country’s first theater created exclusively for showing motion pictures, the “nickelodeon”, in pittsburgh, along with his brother-in-law harry davis.
