Background about the event:
Raise the Curtain is a fundraising event to support the efforts of the Denis Theatre Foundation to purchase, renovate and reopen the Denis Theatre. It is being held the evening of February 6 at the stunning Mt. Washington home of Peter Karlovich (MtL '78) and Steven Herforth, strong Denis supporters.
This event will be different than most fundraising galas, in that we will not be auctioning off myriad small items. Rather, we will be relying primarily on the ticket price, $250 per person (of which $230 is tax deductible) as our revenue producer. You will be invited to join us for a fantastic party - with great music, fabulous food, dancing and a spectacular view - at one of the most dazzling homes in the region. More importantly, though, you will be helping to save the Denis Theatre, a true community treasure, and to bring it back as an independent film theater, community cultural center and key contributor to the region's economic vitality.
On February 28th of this year, our Purchase Option to buy the theater will expire. We've been holding functions throughout the summer and fall to inform and inspire major potential donors, and have had great success, with multiple pledges at the $5000, $10000, $25000 and $50000 levels and literally hundreds of smaller gifts. But we are not there yet! We need all of your help if we are to have the funds in hand to purchase the theater by February 28th and keep it from being converted to another use!
